Large German Wooded Landscape with Stream by JOesph Holzer (1824-1876)

This vibrant large scale oil painting of a stream in a wooded landscape was painted by the talented Austrian painter Joesph Holzer. He attended the Vienna Academy of Arts in 1840, studied under Thomas Ender and Franz Steinfield, and received an Imperial scholarship in Munich for three years starting in 1856. This painting is in good antique condition in a more contemporary frame.

One can imagine this represents the tale of Icarus who flew too close to the sun, melting the wax in his wings, making him fall into the ocean. This is made in two pieces and sits on a wooden base.

Bronze Sculpture of Navajo Warrior by Daro FLood

Daro Flood (1954-2017, was an interdisciplinary artist born into the world of western art. He became the conservator for the Alaska State Museum in Juneau, Alaska. He made jewelry and was a sculpture using bronze of which this is a fine example. Exceptionally well detailed it present a warrior carrying an a axe and shield, wearing a beautiful feather decorated lioncloth. The bronze exhibits a dual patination, the majority being dark brown with highlights in the details of a verdigris finish. Signed “Daro” and numbered 4/30 it sits on an oak base
